Woman killed after being hit by flying debris from truck

A woman has tragically died after debris from a truck hit the vehicle she was travelling in.

Police say that around 4.00pm on Friday, emergency services were called to the Newell Highway at Alectown in NSW, following reports debris from a truck had struck a Toyota Prado SUV travelling in the opposite direction.

Upon arrival, officers found a 38-year-old seriously injured.


Despite desperate attempts to revive her, she passed away at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota, a 42-year-old man, and three boys aged four, six and nine, were taken to Parkes Hospital as a precaution and have since been released.

The truck driver, a 52-year-old man, was also taken to Parkes Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established with officers from the Crash Investigation Unit investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
