Woman threatened with gun, car stolen in terrifying home invasion

A WOMAN has been threatened with a gun and had her car stolen in a terrifying home invasion in Sunnybank Hills overnight.

Shortly after 9.10pm, police were called to a home on Aratula Street following reports that a man had entered a house.

Police said the man pulled out a gun and demanded the woman hand over her car keys.

The woman complied, and the man then allegedly fled the house in the vehicle.

A short time later, an off duty officer spotted the car in Wallaroo Road at Doolandella and notified police.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded sawn off shot gun and an axe.

A 29-year-old Yeronga man was taken into custody at the scene.

He has since been charged with one count each of armed robbery, enter dwelling with intent, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving would a licence, and possession of explosives (ammunition).

He is due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court today.
