Young boy winched to safety after going missing on Tamborine Mountain

A 13-year-old boy has been rescued by chopper after becoming lost on Tamborine Mountain.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told myGC officers were alerted to a child missing in bushland around 7.40pm on Tuesday.

It’s understood the youngster was attempting to walk home when he became lost in the dark around 5.45pm.


The child is believed to have phoned his father, who then contacted police, with authorities launching a major search involving PolAir and Rescue 500.

About 10.50pm last night, the missing boy was located and successfully winched to safety.

He was assessed by paramedics, however it’s not known whether the teen suffered any injuries.
