A woman has been charged after she hit a school girl while drink-driving on the state’s north coast yesterday.
Just after 4pm, a 9-year-old girl got off a school bus on The Ridgeway, Cumbalum.
The girl attempted to cross the road but was struck by a vehicle travelling east on The Ridgeway, being driven by a 55-year-old woman.

The girl suffered head and chest injuries and remains in Lismore Base Hospital.
The woman underwent a roadside breath test which allegedly provided a positive reading.
She was arrested and taken to Ballina Police Station where she was submitted to a breath analysis that allegedly provided a mid-range reading of 0.103.
The woman has been charged with mid-range PCA, and has had her licence suspended.
She was given conditional bail and will appear in Ballina Local Court on 31 March 2016.
