Young man suffers serious head injuries in pub punch-up

A MAN is being questioned by police following a shocking attack outside a Brisbane hotel.

Police say the 26-year-old is assisting detectives with their inquiries, after a 21-year-old man suffered serious head injuries.

It’s believed the two men were involved in an altercation between two groups outside a pub on Oxford Street in Bulimba shortly after midnight on Saturday.

“Initial inquiries indicate as a result of the altercation three security guards attended to separate the two groups,” Police explain in a statement.

“A 21-year-old man was attempting to re-enter the hotel when he was allegedly punched in the head causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.”

He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
