$10k drug haul found in car on the Gold Coast

POLICE have uncovered a $10,000 drug haul after pulling over a vehicle in Burleigh Heads on Wednesday afternoon.

Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch intercepted the car along West Burleigh Roada round 5.50pm.

Police will allege the driver was acting suspiciously which led them to conduct a search of the vehicle, where they found a large amount of methylamphetamine (ICE), worth in excess of $10,000, as well as a pipe.

A 42-year-old man from Currumbin Waters has since been charged with possession of dangerous drug in excess of the schedule and possession of a utensil.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on May 2.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith from Gold Coast CIB said the arrest arrest demonstrates the mantra of drug enforcement occurring anytime, anywhere.
