TWEED City will become the largest shopping centre north of the Hunter River, if a $134 million expansion plan is approved by Tweed Council.
Dexus Property Group has submitted a development application to council to expand the centre on its northern side.
The expansion will combine with a previously approved entertainment precinct and retail space upgrade, bringing the centre’s total floor space to 70,239sqm.

Tweed Mayor Barry Longland said he was confident the expansion would get the green light from council.
“It’s a major investment into the South Tweed area and as the centre becomes more recognized as the place where Tweed residents and those from the southern Gold Coast come to do their shopping, other businesses will feed off that. We’re really happy with it,” he told The Bulletin.
It is estimated around 579 jobs will be created during construction and nearly 600 jobs once construction is completed.
The expansion is due to be completed in 2018.
