$140m of cocaine, MDMA found in ‘shampoo’ shipment in Sydney
MORE than $140 million worth of cocaine and MDMA has been found in a shipment declared as shampoo in Sydney.
Police say the 258 box shipment, which arrived from Spain on May 7, included 49 boxes containing bags of a brown crystalline substance and blocks of white powder.
The packages contained 312kg of cocaine, which has an estimated potential street value of $93.6 million, and 236kg of MDMA, which has an estimated potential street value of $47.2 million.
Detectives executed seven search warrants at storage facilities in Cromer, Brookvale, Chatswood, Artarmon, and Macquarie Park on Monday where they seized items relevant to the investigation.
A 33-year-old man was arrested outside the Cromer storage unit and taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited drug.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Monday 8 July.
Investigations will continue.
