14yo girl among three charged after evading police in stolen car

Three people including a 14-year-old girl have been charged after they attempted to evade police in a stolen vehicle in Logan overnight.

Police say that just before 10pm police observed a stolen silver Toyota Rav4 on Loganlea Road, Meadowbrook.

Police activated lights and sirens directing the vehicle to stop however it’s alleged the vehicle failed to comply with police direction and drove away.

The vehicle was then again sighted travelling westbound on Compton Road in Woodridge allegedly exceeding the speed limit and driving in a dangerous manner.

PolAir 2 tracked the vehicle through several streets until it came to a stop at a carpark on Logan Street, Beenleigh where three people were seen running from the vehicle.

The trio were located on Logan Street and taken into custody without incident.

A 22-year-old Regents Park man has been charged with over ten offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary and stealing.

He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today along with a 23-year-old woman from Craignish charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 14-year-old Slacks Creek girl was also charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
