16 people killed in fiery US military plane crash
At least sixteen people are dead after a US military plane crashed in Leflore County, Mississippi.
The C-130 military plane came down into a soybean field around 4.00pm on Monday afternoon local time.
Local media say the aircraft is believed to have exploded mid-air.
The US Marine Corps confirmed the tragic accident via social media, however didn’t go into detail. An update on the crash is expected to be released later today.
Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant released a statement on his Facebook page.
“Please join Deborah and me in praying for those hurting after this tragedy. Our men and women in uniform risk themselves every day to secure our freedom.”
It’s not yet known what caused the crash.
