A 16-year-old boy has woken to find a man threatening him with a gun at a home in Hermit Park, Queensland this morning.
Police say around 3.15am, a 24-year-old man entered the Sturgess Street home armed with a gun and began to threaten a teenage boy.
The man allegedly located an ornamental samurai sword in the boy’s bedroom and used it to threaten him into searching the home for cash.

During the search, the teen allegedly armed himself with a kitchen knife in self-defence before he became involved in a physical altercation with the man.
Police arrived shortly after and took the man into custody. He was transported to Townsville Hospital for the treatment of a wound to his left shoulder and arm before being taken to the Watch House.
He has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling with intent, armed robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm and deprivation of liberty.
