17 teens arrested, 6 hospitalised on day four of Gold Coast Schoolies
A large crowd converged in the Surfers Paradise CBD for schoolies celebrations overnight, with 17 school leavers arrested and six hospitalised.
Police said that whilst they were pleased with the overall crowd behaviour, drugs continue to be the main concern.
“There were 17 schoolies arrested on 29 offences overnight, mainly for drug possession offences,” Gold Coast police said in a statement.
“Of those arrested, 16 were male and one was a female schoolie.”
Fifteen schoolies were also issued with liquor infringements notices.
Paramedics treated 89 people, with six schoolies needing transport to hospital.
