Search resumes for swimmer missing in Greendale

UPDATE @ DECEMBER 27 10:09AM:

The body of a swimmer who went missing in a Western Sydney swimming hole has been located deceased this morning.

A Punchbowl man was swimming with his friends in the Nepean River in the Bents Basin State Conservation Area at Greendale yesterday afternoon, when he disappeared in the water.

Police and rescue teams searched the waters until 11pm and resumed this morning.

The man’s body was located in waters nearby just before 8:30am this morning.

There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

EARLIER @ DECEMBER 27 06:28AM: The search will resume this morning for a swimmer, missing and feared drowned at a swimming hole in Sydney’s west.

The 25-year-old man disappeared yesterday afternoon while swimming with friends in the Nepean River in the Bents Basin State Conservation Area at Greendale.

Not long after the group entered the water the 25-year-old Punchbowl man disappeared.

The group got out of the water and searched for their friend but were unsuccessful.

A search was suspended just after 10pm last night, and police divers will join efforts to locate the man this morning.
