18 people arrested and charged in Gold Coast gang raids

18 people have been arrested as a result of early morning raids across the Gold Coast.

It’s all part of a police crack down on the Gold Coast, targeting drug offences and anti-social behaviour by people associated with outlaw motorcycle gangs.

Police seized various items, including drugs, weapons, ammunition and stolen cars, after executing 16 search warrants in eight different Gold Coast suburbs.

Over 70 officers were involved in the raids at homes in Coomera, Upper Coomera, Ormeau, Pimpama, Nerang, Runaway Bay, Hope Island and Worongary.

Investigators from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch, the State Crime Command, Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrols and the Dog Squad were involved in the raids.

18 people were charged with 52 offences, including supping dangerous drugs, trafficking dangerous drugs, weapon possessions.

A full list of those arrested and their charges is listed below, with the youngest charged just 16 years old.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith of the Gold Coast CIB said people associated with OMCGs needed to understand they will be continually targeted until they change their offending behaviour.

“The offences detected and property located clearly indicates the variety of criminal behaviour they engage in.

“If they don’t change, we will back as many times as necessary to prevent offending behaviour,” Detective Inspector Smith said.

Arrests and charges laid:

A 22-year-old man from Pimpama was charged with two counts of supply dangerous drugs and one count each of possession things used in the commission of a crime and fail to correctly dispose syringe.
• A 24-year-old man from Carrara was charged with three counts of possess dangerous drugs and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs and supply.
• A 22-year-old man from Upper Coomera, a member of the Bandidos OMCG was charged with one count each of possess dangerous drugs, possess utensil and possess category R weapons.
• A 36-year-old man from Pimpama, a member of the Bandidos OMCG was charged with two counts possess dangerous drugs and one count of contravene order (fail to provide telephone PIN).
• A 50-year-old woman from Nerang was charged with two counts of possess dangerous drugs and one count each of unlawful possession of category H weapon, unlawful possession of motor vehicle, possess tainted property, possess utensil, authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), stealing and receiving tainted property.
• A 22 -year-old man from Coomera, a Rebels OMCG associate, was charged with one count of commit public nuisance.
• A 27-year-old man from Runaway Bay was charged with possess dangerous drugs and possess category R weapon.
• A 43-year-old man from Runaway Bay was charged with one count of possess dangerous drugs.
• A 19-year-old man from Coomera, a member of the Bandidos OMCG, was charged with one count of commit public nuisance.
• A 29-year-old man from Hope Island, a member of the Bandidos OMCG, was charged with counts of possess dangerous drugs.
• A 25-year-old woman from Hope Island was charged with two counts of possess dangerous drugs.
• A 61-year-old woman from Carrara was charged with one count of possess dangerous drugs.
• A 24-year-old man from Runaway Bay was charged with one count of possess dangerous drugs (exceed schedule).
• A 16-year-old girl from Runaway Bay was dealt with under Youth Justice Act for possess dangerous drugs.
• A 39-year-old woman from Ormeau Hills was charged with possess utensil.
• A 39-year-old man from Ashmore was charged with six counts of possess dangerous drugs, possess a category R weapon and possess utensil.
• A 46-year-old man from Mount Warren Park was charged with possess dangerous drug and possess utensil.
All are due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on April 15.
