18yo arrested after allegedly stabbing attack, Southport

A man is in hospital this morning, after he was allegedly stabbed in the middle of Southport last night.

It’s understood an 18-year-old man and a 31-year-old man became involved in an argument on Scarborough Street around 5.00pm.

The younger man then walked away, but returned a short time later and allegedly stabbed the older man in the back.

The 31-year-old from Pimpama was treated briefly at the scene for a stab wound, before he was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for further treatment.

He’s understood to be in a stable condition.

Police then arrested the 18-year-old from Macleay Island and have since charged him with wounding, going armed so as to cause fear, unlawful possession of a knife in a public place and enter premises and commit an indictable offence.

He’s been denied police bail and remains in custody to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court today.
