18yo charged after stolen car flips on southern Gold Coast

A teenager has been charged after allegedly crashing and flipping a stolen car on the southern Gold Coast overnight.

Emergency services were called to Golden Four Drive in Coolangatta around 8.00 pm, where a red CX-5 Mazda had collided with two other vehicles.

It’s understood it ran into the back of a ute that was trying to reverse park and then hit another parked car before flipping over.

Two people were seeing fleeing from the vehicle, but police quickly tracked them down at a nearby bus stop.

The 18-year-old woman has now been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, while a 17-year-old boy has not yet been charged.

Police allege the car was stolen from a home in Broadbeach Waters earlier in the night.

Investigations are continuing.

The 45-year-old driver of the ute sustained a neck injury in the collision.
