A trainee nurse in Queensland has been hospitalised with serious blood clots, after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Newscorp reports that the 18-year-old received her first dose of the vaccine just a week before Australian authorities changed their advice for it
It’s now recommended that people under the age of 50 don’t get the AstraZeneca formula due to the increased risk of blood clots in young people.

The trainee was in and out of hospital three times before doctors finally discovered three severe blood clots on her lung.
She’s now having to take blood-thinning medication and antibiotics for the next six months and will undergo regular blood tests and scans throughout her recovery.
Her adverse reaction occurred more than three weeks after she received the vaccine, which is outside the usual timeline for developing a bad response.
Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration is reportedly looking into the incident, and is yet to come to any conclusion about the link.
