An 18-year-old man has tragically drowned in a rural town northwest of Sydney yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the Colo River at Lower Portland around 1.40pm, after reports the man had failed to resurface after entering the water.
Despite desperate attempts by onlookers, he couldn’t be seen.

Police officers carried out an extensive search, with the help of the Marine Area Command and the SES – who provided vessels.
Just after 5.00pm, police divers found the man’s body on the riverbed near where he was last seen.
A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
