19-year-old driver killed, 20-year-old passenger injured in southeast Qld crash

A YOUNG man has been killed and another injured after the car they were in crashed into a tree northwest of Brisbane overnight.

The accident happened at Samford Valley, near Cedar Creek, around 9.45pm.

Police said the two men were driving along Mount Glorious Road when their car left the road and travelled down an embankment where it smashed into a tree near Parkwood Drive.


Sadly, there was nothing that paramedics could do to save the 19-year-old driver.

Police confirmed the man from Highvale was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His passenger, a 20-year-old man from Upper Kedron, was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment to what police said were nin-life-threatening injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
