Woman injured after taxi mounts footpath, crashes into Sydney shop

A woman has been injured after a taxi crashed into a shop in Paddington this morning.

Police were told the taxi was making a u-turn on Oxford Street when it was hit by another car, forcing it to mount the footpath and hit a woman walking past.

The cab then continued, crashing into a shop.

The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics for rib and arm injuries before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the taxi was trapped within the vehicle for a short time before being released. He is believed to have escaped without injury.
