2019 Gold Coast Film Festival set to focus on families

The Gold Coast Film Festival is set to deliver another impressive line up of activities across the Coast with the 17th annual Festival officially launched today at HOTA, Home of the Arts.

Running over 12 days from Wednesday, April 3 until Sunday, April 14, the Festival will feature more than 100 films, panels, parties and events, including pop-up outdoor cinemas on the beach, in the Hinterland, in a laneway and even floating on a boat.

In a first for the Festival, organisers have also included a line up of children’s events every day of the Festival.

Kids will be able to attend acting and filmmaking workshops, learn how to photograph professional portraits as well as enjoy screenings of free outdoor movies with family.

Returning due to its ongoing popularity will be the Future Filmmakers event and ‘YScreen’ program created to excite and inspire high school students.

Families are also expected to flock to a ground-breaking performance called ‘Blind Cinema’, where children use hushed voices to describe a film that only they can see to blindfolded adults.

Tickets for the Blind Cinema go on sale today.

Tickets are already on sale for the 5th annual Women In Film Lunch and Movie & Music Trivia special events. Get in early and book now before they sell out!
