A 20-year-old man has been charged over a horror accident which claimed the life of another young man in Bowen last week.
Police say the man, who was unlicensed, lost control of the vehicle he was driving and collided with a power pole.
One of the passengers, a 22-year-old man, was airlifted to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition but has since died from his injuries.

A second passenger, a 20-year-old man, was treated at Bowen Hospital for minor injuries.
A 20-year-old man was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, failing to remain at or near road incident and assist injured persons, driving a motor vehicle without a licence, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle and offences involving registration certificates.
He is due to appear in the Bowen Magistrates Court today.
