25 fire fighters battle ferocious house fire in Tweed
Emergency services have rushed to a massive house fire just over the border in Tweed Shire in the early hours of this morning.
The two-storey home along Omiah Way in Piggabeen burst into flames around 2.30 am, calling over 25 firefighters to the scene from Tweed Heads, Bilambil, Cudgen and Murwillumbah.
Crews worked for over two hours to try and extinguish the blaze, and stop it spreading to an adjoining shed and bushland.
The house was completely destroyed as a result of the fire, according to firefighters.
NSW Police, Ambulance and Essential Energy were also called to the scene, but luckily no serious injuries were reported.
The occupants had self-evacuated from the dwelling before emergency services arrived on scene.
The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
