$30 million aged care facility in the works for Robina

The Gold Coast suburb of Robina is set to receive a $30 million, state of the art, aged care facility.

The 105-bed Japara Healthcare home will be located in the Easy T precinct on Scottsdale Drive and will boast a contemporary residential design with innovative shared leisure spaces including an in-house cinema, cafe, courtyards, a rooftop garden and an entertaining deck.

Japara Healthcare Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Sudholz, said he was delighted to build the state-of-the art home in an area of increasing resident need.

“The number of persons aged over 70 years and living within a 10 kilometre radius of our Robina site is forecast to double over the next 20 years,” he said.

“Through this development we are proactively providing best care and accommodation for the community’s elderly residents to meet their needs.

Mr Sudholz said the project is expected to create hundreds of construction jobs and employment opportunities.

“The project will also deliver economic benefits to the region, with approximately $20 million in local investment, and an estimated 185 full time equivalent construction related jobs.

“Upon completion, it is anticipated there will be 125 individuals employed within the home and another 70 indirect full time equivalent jobs supported in the wider community.”

Construction is expected to start in April 2018, ahead of the home’s slated mid-2019 opening.
