30,000 fired up festival fans flock to Byron

AROUND 30,000 fired up fans are said to have descended on Byron Bay for this weekends annual Splendour in the Grass music festival.
Revelers from as far as Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane have converged on the North Byron Parklands for the three-day festival.
In what was their only Australian show, American hip hop duo Outkast were among the long list of performers that kept crowds entertained last night (pictured below), including Angus and Julia Stone, and The Presets.

Police have been out in force, with drug detection dogs screening patrons at the gates.
By Friday afternoon, more than 100 people had been caught with dangerous drugs.
The ABC reports that, before nightfall yesterday, more than one kilogram of cannabis, pills and powder had been seized.
Tonight, Australian hip hop artist 360 will join around two dozen others on stage and perform for thousands of party goers.
UK singer Lily Allen and Australian hip hop group Hilltop Hoods will headline Sunday’s lineup, alongside British singer-songwriter Sam Smith and more than two dozen others.
