THIRTY-three people are dead following an almighty explosion at a coal mine in southwest China.
It’s understood 35 people were working in the Jinshangou Coal Mine in China’s Yongchuan District when the blast occurred just after 11.30am local time on Monday.
Two workers miraculously managed to escape unharmed however, the 33 people still trapped in the pit tragically died.

The last of the 33 bodies were retrieved from the site this morning.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze is now under way.
