3yo boy critical, to be airlifted to hospital after horror head-on smash in Qld

A three-year-old boy and 25-year-old woman are in a critical condition following a horror head-on crash in central Queensland.

The accident occurred just after 1.30pm yesterday, when a car travelling north on the Burnett Highway collided head on with a four wheel drive travelling south.

The 3-year-old boy and 25-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries and were rushed to hospital.


The woman has undergone surgery in Rockhampton Base Hospital, while the young boy is expected to be airlifted to Brisbane today.

Two other women, aged 27 and 34, were also injured in the crash along with a 5-year-old boy.

The 27-year-old woman and 5-year-old boy are believed to now be in a stable condition, while the 34-year-old remains serious.

Investigations are ongoing.
