4yo girl airlifted to hospital after being bitten by snake while watching TV

A young girl has been rushed to hospital after being bitten by a snake while watching TV in mid northern Queensland this morning.

The four-year-old girl was bitten on the foot on Oorindi Mckinlay Road at Julia Creek approximately 80km from Cloncurry,  just after 8.20am.

It’s believed the snake had been hiding under a television cabinet inside the family’s living room before biting the child on the toe.

Family members applied first aid to the area surrounding the bite before emergency crews arrived at the scene.

She was airlifted to Mt Isa Hospital in a stable condition.

It’s thought the snake was a breed of adder or python.

It is the fourth snake bite in Queensland in just one week.

On Sunday, a 62-year-old man died after he was bitten by a suspected brown snake or taipan while walking through long grass on his property, north of Townsville.
