With major musical concerts, large contemporary dance productions, giant outdoor spectacles, travelling shows on kayaks and even an epic beach sleepover, Bleach Festival has something for everyone this year.
Kicking off this Thursday and running until Sunday 15 April, the Gold Coast’s signature arts and cultural festival will feature 140 performances and events including 10 world premieres.
There are loads of highlight events, but here are five we think you need to check out this year:

The Spirit of Churaki
What: Inspired by the incredible true story of the Gold Coast’s first surf life saver, this heroic story features an extraordinary line-up of legendary Australian musicians.
When: April 12 at 7pm

What: 10 every-day locals will open their private homes to complete strangers for a series of intimate living room performances.

What: Two fearless performers will put themselves at the mercy of both the tide and the compassion of the community as they set up an office on a sandbar at Currumbin Estuary for 49

What: Spend the night sleeping on the beach, wrapped in a blanket of sound created by internationally renowned artist Lawrence English.

Yes, We Dance!
What: If you love to dance, this is a joyous participatory performance experience that pairs 10 everyday Gold Coasters with professional choreographers and an ensemble of hundreds of community dancers.
