5 injured, 3 critically, after vintage car with no seats crashes near Lismore

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a horror crash which left five people injured, three of them critically, in northern NSW last night.

The accident occurred at Woodenbong, approximately 100 kilometres northwest of Lismore, around 9pm.

Police said an unregistered red 1989 Nissan 300ZX was travelling along Mount Lindesay Road when it left the road and crashed into an embankment.

Investigators said the vintage vehicle had no seats or seat belts.

All five occupants were hurt in the crash. Police said three had sustained life-threatening injuries.

Two passengers were airlifted to hospital, while the driver and two remaining passengers were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward and contact the nearest police station or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
