A man has been charged with trying to persuade a ‘child’ he met online for sexual activity after he was caught out by undercover detectives posing as a 14-year-old boy.
The 55-year-old man was arrested by Detectives from the Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit at Westmead, just after 3pm yesterday.
Police will allege in court the man believed he was speaking to a 14-year-old boy and engaged in sexually-explicit conversations with the child and made arrangements to meet in person.

Shortly after the arrest, detectives executed a search warrant at a home at Beverly Hills in Sydney, where they seized computers and electronic storage devices.
The man was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with use carriage service to procure persons under 16 years for sexual activity.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court later today.
