5yo boy airlifted to hospital after being run over by family car

A 5-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after being run over by the family car on a property in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

It’s believed the youngster was playing in the vehicle around 9.45am this morning, when he disengaged the car’s handbrake, causing it to roll backwards over a retaining wall.

The boy has managed to throw himself out of an open door, however he was subsequently struck by the vehicle.

The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was also tasked to the scene and worked with paramedics on the ground to treat the child for multiple head and pelvic injuries

He was then flown to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
