60yo hikers rescued from bush north of Brisbane

A successful search and rescue mission has been carried out north of Brisbane.

A search was launched on Tuesday night for two 60-year-old hikers who didn’t return from a bushwalk near Mount Nebo, located 18 kilometres north west of The Gap.

The Sunshine Coast based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called at 9:22PM.

The crew flew to the search area and a short time later located the missing pair.

Aircrewmen winched down a Queensland Ambulance Service paramedic  who then walked the hikers out to waiting emergency services.

The rescue helicopter returned to base while the flight paramedic was driven back by Queensland Police staff.
