A Gold Coast family has been left devastated, with news their six-year-old boy is beyond recovery after a tragic accident involving a theme park toy.
Six-year-old Deklan was found unresponsive at his Nerang home on Sunday, April 25 and was rushed to hospital and later airlifted to the Brisbane Children’s hospital in a critical condition.
A fundraising page for the family’s costs has since said that doctors have advised that Deklan is beyond recovery.

“Deklan’s life support will be withdrawn in the next 48 hours,” the update on the page reads.
“As you can understand this is a devastating time for the family so please respect their privacy and understand they won’t be able to talk on the phone.
“They are reading the messages of support and appreciate all the love and kindness shown by the community.”
It’s still not clear exactly what happened with the toy, but it’s understood to have come from a Gold Coast theme park.
Village Roadshow released the following statement today.
“The Village Roadshow Theme Parks family are distressed to learn about the tragic accident involving Deklan,’ the statement reads.
“We need to understand the circumstances around what has occurred and will be fully cooperating with any investigation.
“As our number one priority is always health and safety, we have removed the toy in question from sale at this time.
“We will also be reaching out to Deklan’s family to offer support. We will not be making any further comment until all the facts are known.”
The fundraising page has raised over $10,000, which will now go towards a memorial for Deklan.
