76-year-old gunman disarmed by members of the public in NSW

A GUNMAN has been arrested after being disarmed by a member of the public at a business on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Officers raced to the Wallanbah Road business at Dyers Crossing, near Nabiac, just before 12.30pm today after receiving reports of an elderly man armed with a gun.

Details of the incident remain sketchy, however, it’s understood a bystander confronted the 76-year-old man and managed to disarm him before police arrived.

Officers attached to Manning Great Lakes Local Area swooped on the area and arrested the elderly citizen.

Exactly why the 76-year-old attended the business armed with the gun remains unknown.

The man was placed into a police vehicle and taken to Foster Police Station where investigators say he is currently assisting them with their inquiries.

No charges have yet been laid.
