Man who murdered young nephew and mother to remain behind bars

UPDATE: A MAN charged with the stabbing murder of his mother and young nephew will remain behind bars until November.

The 35-year-old man, who is also charged with assaulting police, did not appear and bail was formally refused at Blacktown Local Court on Wednesday.

The Magistrate adjourned the matter until November 6.

EARLIER: The bodies of an eight-year-old boy and his grandmother have been found lying in a suburban street in Sydney’s north-west.

A neighbour called police just before 11pm on Tuesday night, claiming she saw a man chasing his mother around a front yard of a home in Lalor Park while armed with a large knife.

Emergency services arrived at the home a short time later where they discovered the body of a woman, aged in her 60’s, lying on the lawn.

The body of her eight-year-old grandson was found outside the home next door.

It’s understood a 35-year-old man, believed to be the child’s uncle, was found nearby shirtless and and armed with a knife.

He was subdued and taken to Blacktown Police Station where he is still being questioned.

Officers from Blacktown Local Area Command will work with detectives from the Homicide Squad to investigate the deaths of the woman and boy.
