For a quarter of a century, 9 News Gold Coast has been keeping Gold Coasters informed on local news, issues and events.
The first edition of the television news program went to air on January 22, 1996, and since then, it has been the training ground for some of Australia’s best-known journalists and presenters.
After more than 30 years in the industry and 12 years of presenting 9 News Gold Coast, Bruce Paige reflects on his time with the bureau.

“One of the things that keeps 9News Gold Coast so fresh is that we are a wonderful training ground,” he said.
“Household names across Australia got their start here and it’s the enthusiastic young reporters who impress me more than anything.”
9 News Queensland’s Director of News, Amanda Paterson, paid tribute to the Gold Coast team.
“The 9News Gold Coast team were pioneers of local television news and continue to be passionate about giving our loyal viewers the best local news bulletin day in and day out,” Paterson said.
This Saturday, 9 News Gold Coast celebrates this impressive milestone with a special documentary to air at 5.30pm on Nine.
It will feature some incredible local news stories from the past, as well as household names including Karl Stefanovic and Leila McKinnon.
