A 99-year-old man has died after his house went up in flames in Melbourne’s north-west early this morning.
Paramedics were called to the man’s Vaynor Street house at Niddrie after a medical alert alarm was activated just before 5.30am.
Ambulance officers arrived to find the man’s house was on fire.

Firefighters raced to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control before it could spread.
Sadly, after the flames were extinguished, the body of the homeowner, a 99-year-old man, was found inside the house.
Police say the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
A crime scene was established and examined by fire investigators and forensic police.
