A grandmother will spend 8 years in jail after killing young boyfriend

Lesley Denise Stokes was drunk, on drugs and speeding when she crashed, killing her young boyfriend.

The 43 year old will be eligible for parole in 2018 after pleading guilty in Southport Court today.

Stokes killed her 23-year-old partner, Jacob Hoad, and injured a 14-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car in when she they were coming back from buying cannabis.


She was driving up to 120 ks an hour in a 60 zone on a learner’s licence with a blood alcohol reading of .073 with traces of drugs in her system.
