A disqualified learner driver has been caught driving a ride-on lawn mower down the street while allegedly three times over the legal alcohol limit.
Police were conducting an RBT on Ettalong Road in Greystanes on Tuesday night when they spotted a “large orange petrol powered ride on lawn mower” travelling on a nearby footpath.

“Police identified that the ride on mower was in excess of 250kg and was subject to conditional registration requirements as determined by RMS. The ride on lawn mower had no registration, conditional or otherwise to allow it to be used upon a road,” NSW Police said in a statement.
The man was breath tested and provided a positive reading. He was then taken to Granville Police Station where he allegedly blew a high-range reading of 0.167, which is more than three times the legal limit.
“Further inquiries discovered that the man was the holder of a New South Wales learner licence, which had expired over seven years ago. It had also been disqualified until 2021 due to a number of previous traffic convictions,” police said.
The man was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice to attend Fairfield Local Court on Tuesday 17 December.
He was also slapped with several traffic infringement notices in relation to the unregistered mower.
