The world loses a rock legend

JOE COCKER has died aged 70.

Known for his unmistakable sound, the rock and blues veteran passed away in his home in the US after losing his battle with lung cancer.

In a statement, Cocker’s agent Barrie Marshall said he was “without the doubt the greatest rock/soul singer ever to come out of Britain”.

Some of his most well known hits include “Up Where We Belong” and “You Are So Beautiful” throughout his career of over 40 years.

He also released the hit cover of the Beatles song “With A Little Help From My Friends”, which reached number one in the UK in 1968.

One of many people in the music industry to farewell Cocker was Ringo Starr, who released a Tweet in honour of him.

“Goodbye and God bless to Joe Cocker from one of his friends, peace and love,” it read.

The singing legend leaves behind his wife Pam.
