Abandoned car fire sparks grass fire on the Gold Coast

Emergency services are on the scene of a car fire in Gaven this afternoon, which sparked a grass fire in bushland.

One fire fighter crew was called to Castle Hill Drive just before midday following reports of a car fire.

They were able to extinguish the car fire within minutes of arriving, though the flames had spread to nearby bushland.

Another crew is currently on their way to the scene to help battle the blaze.

Police were also called to the scene, following reports a stolen car had been abandoned and set on fire.

No one was at the scene when police arrived.

Investigations are underway.
