Queensland Police have today released confronting video footage showing the terrifying conditions they were faced with while evacuating residents at Peregian earlier this week.
“This wasn’t just another day at the office for our crews on the Sunshine Coast,” Queensland Police wrote alongside the footage which was taken during the bushfire crisis.
“Sometimes words can’t describe the things we see on the job. Monday night was one of those times.”

In the vision, a police officer on a motorcycle can be seen driving towards the fire in a bid to alert residents to the emergency unfolding around them.
The officer then enters the home of an elderly man and helps him to safety.
In another part of the footage, the officer can be seen travelling with lights and sirens through the streets shouting “you need to evacuate” as flames threaten nearby homes. He then picks up a house hose to bravely battle the flames himself as he continues to knock on doors in the neighbourhood.
Understandably, the vision has gone viral on social media, with hundreds of proud Queenslanders praising the officers for their heroic actions.
“Gave me goosebumps, thank you to all the emergency service workers! You guys are amazing,” one person commented.
“Thank you all so so much… So many people I know have been brought to tears with the footage and the outstanding job that is being done… My friends are allowed back in their homes today because of you and the other services,” wrote another.
Hundreds of Peregian residents have slowly been allowed to return home today, with easing conditions providing some much-needed relief for firefighters overnight.
The blaze is still burning in containment lines, with residents urged to remain vigilant.
