With pressure mounting from the public, Larna Watmough, 21, and Layni Cameron, 17, handed themselves into police.
They were arrested and each charged with serious assault and public nuisance.
Watmough was released on bail but Cameron was kept behind bars after breaching bail for separate armed robbery charges.
The case was briefly mentioned in the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning but was adjourned while lawyers waited for an outstanding witness statement.
