It’s been revealed the driver believed to be involved in a hit and run on the Gold Coast two weeks ago, failed a drug test after the incident.
16-year-old Preston Potter was hit while trying to cross Bermuda Street in Burleigh Waters on June 6, leaving him with critical injuries.
He was put in an induced coma, which he only just woke up from over the weekend.

His condition has now been upgraded from critical to serious but stable.
This morning, Newscorp reports the driver made the call to police after the incident, from his home.
Police then came around to the residence, before conducting a drug test, which the man reportedly failed.
It’s believed he only had his licence suspended for 24 hours, before being allowed back on the road.
Still no charges have been laid in relation to the incident.
