Accused open house robber a single mum who wanted to shop

IT has been revealed a woman accused of robbing a real estate agent at gunpoint last weekend was a single mother who wanted to go on a shopping spree.

Amy Lee Niwa, 27 is accused of posing as a buyer at an open house on Monaco Street in ­Surfers Paradise on Saturday where she turned a silver handgun on the hosting agent and demanded his keys and mobile phone.

The Gold Coast Bulletin reports that the unlicensed 27-year-old stole the agent’s car and drove straight to the shops where she allegedly used the stolen credit card to buy goods.


After a four day crime spree, she was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, found armed with a 20cm knife and small quantity of meth.

The New Zealand citizen was refused bail in Southport Magistrates Court yesterday where she appeared on 21 charges.
