Actor-comedian Bill Cosby sent to jail for sexual assault

Bill Cosby’s sharp downfall from ‘America’s Dad’ to ‘sexually violent predator’ could see the elderly actor-comedian live out his final days behind bars.

The former The Cosby Show star has been sentenced to between three and 10 years jail for sexually assaulting a woman at his Philadelphia home in 2004.

Back in April, the 81-year-old was found guilty of three counts of aggravated indecent assault, for the drugging and sexual assault of Andrea Constand.

On Wednesday, Montgomery County Court Judge Steven O’Neill declared Cosby a “sexually violent predator” under Pennsylvania law, before sentencing him to a stint in the big house.

The declaration means he will have to undergo monthly counselling and register as a sex offender with police for the rest of his life.

By American law, neighbours and schools will be notified of his address and crimes.

His lawyers have already vowed to appeal the conviction.
