Actor Peter Vaughan dies

Veteran British actor Peter Vaughan, who famously played Maester Aemon in Game of Thrones has died aged 93.

The actor’s agent made the announcement, saying he died on Tuesday surrounded by his family.

His best-known roles included criminal Harry Grout in the 1970s prison sitcom Porridge.

Born in the central England county of Shropshire, Vaughan was married to the late actress Billie Whitelaw, and then Lillias Walker.
