Australian actress Maggie Kirkpatrick has had her convictions for child sex offences dismissed in an appeal hearing this morning.
The Prisoner star cried with relief in the county court on Tuesday, when the judge revealed she should not have been convicted of the alleged 1984 sexual assault.
The 74-year-old was found guilty in Melbourne Magistrate’s Court in August of two charges of indecent assault and one count of gross indecency against a 14-year-old female fan.

The young girl had told the Court in a hearing earlier this year that she and Kirkpatrick ate dinner before going upstairs to a bedroom, where Kirkpatrick allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Kirkpatrick had denied the allegations made against her, claiming she took the young girl who had been in a psych ward back to her Prahran home for a home-cooked meal as a kindness gesture.
