Airport worker suspended for conducting security check on Julie Bishop

A security officer at Melbourne Airport has been suspended after she conducted a security screening on Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.

The female employee is reported to have pulled Ms Bishop aside for a ‘random’ security check on September 22 while she was on her way to New York for the United Nations leader’s summit.

In a statement, the airport said the worker was suspended for not adhering to standard security screening procedures.
